Gene B. Adams, 68 of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Cape Coral after a brief illness.

Gene was bo on November 6, 1947 in Canton, Ohio to parents Daniel and Nelsie. He attended St. Benedict's grade school and Catholic Church and was a graduate of McKinley High School in Canton, OH. Gene also attended college in West Palm Beach, Florida and Kent St University at the Stark County Branch in Canton, OH. While working at Fazio's in Canton, Gene met the love of his life, Barbara (Haas) in 1975. The two were married on October 7, 1978. In 1980, they welcomed a son, Michael, and then a daughter, Andrea, in 1981. In 1987, the family made the difficult decision to leave their many friends and family in Ohio, and relocated to Cape Coral, Florida.

Gene worked various jobs and played the role of "Mr. Mom" at home with the kids for a few years until the early 1990s, when he was one of the original employees hired at Sam's Club in Fort Myers. He specialized in Inventory/Audit Control for Sam's and worked on the Audit Team for many years. He retired from Sam's in November 2014. In retirement, Gene enjoyed golfing, working on his never ending list of projects around the house, spending time with his kids and "grand dogs", and Friday moing breakfasts with the guys. Gene was an avid Cleveland sports fan and loved traveling and boating with the family as well as the aggravation and frustration that came with all three. Gene was the proudest father at the two very recent weddings of his children; Michael, to Maisy Page in February; and Andrea, to Jason Powell in May of this year. He thoroughly enjoyed both of these celebrations and felt fulfilled in knowing that each was so completely loved. Some people will remember Gene for his soft hands, great smile, and amazing hair, but most will remember him as a selfless individual and a lover of people. He was a friend to everyone and could talk to anyone - for hours!

Services will be held on Friday, June 24th, 2016 at 3pm at Faith Presbyterian Church, 4544 Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral, FL 33904, with Dr. H. Tim Halverson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests considering donation to the or Cape Coral Caring Center.
