Kaye Baird, longtime resident of Cape Coral went to her home in heaven on Sunday July 31, 2016.
Bo in 1920 in Fairmont, WVA, to Italian immigrant parents, Dominick Colantino and Clara Frateali and into a large Italian family. Kaye left her home state at age 18 to see what the world had to offer. She moved to Cleveland, OH to live with her aunt, uncle and cousins then on to Miami, Florida.
Kaye and her late husband Dwight, loved working with the public. Both were active Florida real estate agents for many years and sold countless vacant lots to all the new residents moving to The Cape. They were instrumental in starting the Italian-American Club in Cape Coral which was a favorite spot of theirs for years, and they held membership in the club from its beginning.
Kaye loved socializing and belonged to several groups such as the Elegante' Ladies, mahjong groups and bingo. Although she stayed close to home these last few months, Kaye remained independent, caring, feisty, grateful and eager to hear God's Word!
Kaye is survived by her sisters Mary Lou Farrell of Ft. Myers, Vi Duke of Barrackville, WVA and Lee Pacifico of Fairmont, WVA. Kaye loved all her nieces! She is survived by her nieces Lisa Sands, Donna LaCavalla, Daneen Pacifico, Vicki Shultz, Karol Griffin, Karen Larry, Doris Atkins and Sherry Spadafore as well as five great nieces and eight great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dwight Baird, sister Minnie Bitonti and brother John Colantino and nephew Nick Colantino.
Kaye will be missed for her sense of humor, her love of family and her zest for life. A memorial service in her honor will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11am in the chapel of the Hall of the Last Supper at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Colonial Blvd. Metz-Fuller Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
