Lt. Colonel Robert E. Bagley, known most by Bob, passed away 04/10/2016 at the age of 90. He was bo 08/03/1925 in Lowell, MA the 1st of 6 children to the late Edward & Alice (Ganley) Bagley. While in Franklin, he graduated Salutatorian of his high school class with the dream of becoming a physician. It was the midst of WWII, however, and he felt it more important to serve his country so he joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 17. He served on Liberty Ships delivering supplies overseas. After 3 years of service in the Merchant Marines he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After graduating from Officer Candidate School, Bob was assigned to the Army Corps of Engineers. During his years of military service, Bob saw duty in both the Korean and Vietnam wars eaing many commendations and awards, including the Legion of Merit award for his time in Vietnam. He retired in 1970 as a Lieutenant Colonel after 26 years of service to his country.

Bob, along with his wife Helen and 7 children, moved to Mansfield, Ohio where he started his civilian career in management with Sprint. He retired from Sprint in 1987 and enjoyed an active retirement. Bob was an avid golfer and a member of the Ft. Myers Country Club for 27 years. He also enjoyed reading, fishing, photography and serving his Catholic faith as a volunteer helping those in need.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sons William R. and Robert J. (Ruth) Bagley. He is survived by his cherished wife of 62 years Helen J. (Riley) Bagley of Ft. Myers who was his entire world. Also his remaining children Mark E. (Pattie), Marietta, GA; Michael D, Mansfield, OH; James F., Charlotte, NC; Thomas A. (Maria), Boca Raton, FL; and Catherine A. (Eric) Demmons, Ft. Myers, FL. Bob also is survived by 3 brothers, Eddie, Dover, NH; David (Dorothy), Hudson, MA; and John (Florence), Trinity, FL. He has 7 wonderful grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He always had a positive attitude and a "Don't worry about it because worry will get you nowhere" philosophy. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed travelling and camping for most his life. Thanks Dad for being brave enough to load your wife and 7 kids into a station wagon and showing us the great wonders of the U.S.A. You are loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A memorial mass will be held at The Church Of The Resurrection on April 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
